Classes

Creating a Class

  1. Click on the Classes tab in the top navigation bar
  2. Select New Class from the dropdown.  
  3. Name your class and click the Create

Class Feed

The first page you'll see when you enter your class is the Feed.  The Feed is a list of all the Activities you have a assigned to a class.  Click on any Activity to see your students progress. 

Students

To view the students in your class click on the Students tab in the class navigation bar at the top center of the class page.  Here you will be able to:

  1. Add, invite, and remove students
  2. Change names and usernames
  3. Reset Passwords 
  4. Print student login information
  5. Change Student ID's

Gradebook

To view your class grades click on the Gradebook tab in the class navigation bar at the top center of the class page.  

Once on the Gradebook page, you can use the Settings dropdown to view grades as points, percentages, or export all your data as a CSV.

Editing a Class Name

  1. Click on the Classes tab in the top navigation bar.
  2. Hover over the class you wish to delete.  
  3. Click the settings cog icon to the right of the class name.
  4. Change your class name and click Save.

Deleting a Class

  1. Click on the Classes tab in the top navigation bar.
  2. Hover over the class you wish to delete.  
  3. Click the settings cog icon to the right of the class name.
  4. Click the Delete button.

Students

Add Students

You can add students to your class three different ways.

Give Them a Code

  1. Select your class from the Classes dropdown menu.
  2. Find the Class Code at the top of your class page.
  3. Students can enter this code by selecting Join Class from their Classes dropdown menu.

Invite them by email

  1. Go to the Students tab on your class page.
  2. Click the Invite Students button.
  3. Enter a comma separated list of your students' emails and press Invite.

Manually add them

  1. Go to the Students tab on your class page.
  2. Click the Add Student button.
  3. Here you can enter all of your student's information and then give them their username and password to login. 

Reset Student Password

  1. Select the student's class from the Classes dropdown.
  2. Click on the Students tab.
  3. Find the student in the list and select them.
  4. Click the Reset Password button at the top of your student list and enter a new password.

Edit Student Username (and Other Info)

  1. Select the student's class from the Classes dropdown.
  2. Click on the Students tab.
  3. Find the student in list and hover over them to show their settings menu on the right side.
  4. Click the settings cog icon to select what you would like to edit: username, name, ID, password.

Remove Student from Class

  1. Select the student's class from the Classes dropdown.
  2. Click on the Students tab.
  3. Find the student in the list and select them.
  4. Click the Remove from Class button at the top of your student list.

Activities

What is an Activity?

An Activity can be a lesson, homework, quiz, assessment, poll, or anything else you'd like to save or assign to a class.  You can either create your own Activities or search Weo for other Activities to use in your class.

Creating an Activity

  1. Click the Create in the top right corner of you screen.
  2. Give your Activity a title, description, and labels.
  3. Start adding items to your Activity.  Items can be:
    • Questions (multiple choice, short answer, free response, or poll)
    • Videos
    • Links
    • Images
    • Documents
    • Text
  4. Pin or Assign your Activity when you're done.

Pinning

Pinning an Activity saves is to a Board.  All of your saved Activities are organized on Boards.  Create different Boards for different types of Activities so you can find and organize all your material.  Your Boards can be found on your Profile page.

Assigning

Assigning an Activity immediately sends the Activity to the classes you select.  You should assign an Activity when you are ready for your class to see or do it.  If you're not ready for you class to view the Activity, Pin it to a Board and assign it whenever your ready.

Drafts

If you're creating an Activity but not ready to pin or assign it, you can just press the back arrow in the top left corner to exit.  Activities are automatically saved, so you'll be able to find anything you didn't pin or assign in your Drafts sections.  

Drafts can be found by clicking on your name or avatar on the main navigation and selecting Drafts from the dropdown menu.

Editing

You can edit any Activity that you have assigned to a class or pinned to a board.

  1. Find and click on the Activity to open it.
  2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner.
  3. Select Edit from the dropdown menu.

Deleting

You can delete any Activity that you have assigned to a class or pinned to a board.

  1. Find and click on the Activity to open it.
  2. Click on the three dots in the top right corner.
  3. Select Delete from the dropdown menu.

Grading

Grading an Activity

  1. Navigate to the class whose Activity you want to grade.
  2. Find and click the Activity on the classes feed to open it.
  3. Select a student from the list to start grading their assignment.

The Grading Widget

When viewing a student's Activity you will see a numbered list to the right of the Activity.  Any item that is in green has already been graded.  Any item that is yellow still needs to be graded.  Click any yellow number to navigate directly to that question and start grading.

Auto vs. Manual

Many questions types, such as Multiple Choice and Short Answer, will be auto graded when a student turns in an assignment.

Question types, such as Free Response, will require you to grade the question manually. 

Feedback

To the right of every question is a Feedback button.  Click this to give the student feedback on any question you'd like. 

Returning an Activity

Once you've completed grading an Activity, click the Return button.  This will allow the student to see how that did on their Activity.  It will also enter their grade into your Gradebook and add their progress to the Activity Overview.

Collecting an Activity

Students will be able to work on their Activity until they turn it in or until you collect it.  To collect an Activity:

  1. Find and click the Activity on the class feed to open it.
  2. Select all the students whose Activity you would like to collect.
  3. Click the three dots next to the Return button at the top of the student list.
  4. Select Collect from the dropdown menu.

Redoing an Activity

If you would like to have a student redo their Activity:

  1. Find and click the Activity on the class feed to open it.
  2. Select all the students who you would like to redo the Activity.
  3. Click the three dots next to the Return button at the top of the student list.
  4. Select Redo from the dropdown menu.

Activity Overview

After you have graded and returned the Activity to your students you can click on the Overview tab.  This will give you a sense of your classes understanding as a whole.  You can see a distribution of the grades as well as how the class did on any individual question.

Boards

What is a Board?

Boards are where you save and organize your Activities.  Create boards for lesson plans, exams, and homework – or create different boards for classes and subjects. Organize your material your way! 

Create a Board

  1. Go to your Profile.
  2. Navigate to the Boards tab if you are not already there.
  3. Click the Create Board button.

Edit your Boards name

  1. Go to your Profile.
  2. Navigate to the Boards tab if you are not already there.
  3. Click the Edit button on the Board you wish to edit.
  4. Change the name and click the Save button.

Delete a Board

  1. Go to your Profile.
  2. Navigate to the Boards tab if you are not already there.
  3. Click the Edit button on the Board you wish to delete.
  4. Click the Delete button.

 

Discover

Home Feed

On your Home page you will see new Activities from the people and boards that you follow.  Start following people and boards so that your Home feed is always full of interesting new Activities.

Search

You can search Weo by using the search bar in your main navigation.  Once you have entered your search term, you can see the results in different categories by switching between the search tabs: 

  1. All Activities
  2. My Activities
  3. All Boards
  4. People

Explore

You can find recommended people to follow and popular Activities by going to the Explore page.  

  1. Click on your Avatar or Name in the top right corner
  2. Select Explore from the dropdown menu.

Following

Following a Teacher

When you follow someone you automatically follow all of their Boards, including any Boards they create in the future.  Anything they pin to a Board will show up in your home feed.

Following a Board

If you are only interested in one ore a few of someones Boards you can choose to only follow those specific Boards.  This means you will only see Activities they pin to these Boards in your home feed

Who Should I Follow?

You should find people who are teaching similar classes and material as you.  This could be peers at your own school or even a teacher in another state.  Whenever you follow someone, new material they create or pin will show up in your home feed.

Profile

Profile Sections

  1. Boards
    • This is where you save and organize all the content you create or pin.   Create boards for lessons, assessments, and homework – or create different boards for classes and subjects. Organize your material your way! 
  2. Likes
    • All Activities you have liked will show up here.  To like an activity click the button with the heart icon on it.
  3. Followers
    • Anyone who is following you or any of your Boards will show up in the Followers section.
  4. Following
    • Anyone you are following or who's Boards you are following will show up in the Following section.
  5. Stream
    • The stream shows a list of you Activity on Weo.  It shows when you pin or like an activity, change your profile picture, follow someone new, etc.

My Profile

You can also edit various sections of your Profile to let the Weo community know more about you.  You can change your Avatar, Name, Description, and your Profile Color.  Change any of these parts of your profile by clicking directly on the section you'd like to edit.

Settings

Viewing your Settings

Go to the Settings page:

  1. Click your Avatar in the top right of the screen.
  2. Select Settings from the dropdown menu.

Editing Your Settings

On the Settings page you can edit:

  1. Name
  2. Username
  3. Email address
  4. Password
  5. Email Notifications

Troubleshooting

 

If you're having any trouble with Weo, please follow these steps.

 

Refresh your Page

Go back to the Weo website and refresh your page.  You can do this by pressing your browser's refresh button or by pressing  Ctrl+R on Windows or ⌘+R on Mac.

Update your Browser

Keeping your browser up to date will ensure that everything is working properly.  If you're not sure how to update your browser, visit this page for more instructions.

Try Chrome

Though Weo works on all modern browsers, Google Chrome will provide you and your class with the best experience.   Click here to download Chrome.

Disable Browser Add-ons or Extensions

Sometimes browsers have add-ons or extensions installed.  These may affect how your browser behaves on Weo as well as other websites.  Learn how to disable browser extensions for your browser by clicking here.

Contact your IT Department

Some schools may have firewalls or other software that blocks Weo from working properly.  Your IT department can enable full access to Weo for you and your class.

FAQ

Answers to some oF our most frequently asked questions

 

1.  Why aren't scores showing up in my gradebook?

Scores only show up in the gradebook after you return an activity to your students. You can do this by clicking the blue Return button while grading an individual assignment.  Or you can do it in bulk from the activity's Student Progress page.

2.  How much does this cost?

Weo is completely free for teachers and students!

3.  Can I transfer grades from Weo into my gradebook?

Weo allows you to export your grades into a downloadable spreadsheet file.  If your software supports transferring of grades, you should be able to use the file to upload your Weo scores into your current gradebook.

4.  How can I move students from one class to another?

Students can join another class from their account. Whenever you create a new class, you will receive a class code.  Students can use this code to join your new class.  Then remove them from your current class to complete the transfer.

5.  Can students use the same account with two different teachers?

Yes, student's can use class codes to join as many classes as they like.  They will be able to access each class from one account using one username and password.  There's no need to create multiple accounts for your students!

6.  How can I use mathematical notation and symbols in my questions?

All mathematical notation should be wrapped in dollar signs.  Below are some examples:

9 squared is written as $$ 9^2 $$

3 over 5 is written as $$ \frac{3}{5} $$

The square root of 81 is written as $$ \sqrt{81} $$

For more examples, click the question mark to the right of where you type your question when creating an activity.

7. How do your pronounce Weo?
